The Western Mass Mom Prom is a group of woman volunteers based in Western Massachusetts. We are proud to be one of over a hundred MomProm organizations throughout the country. Created in 2014 to honor a friend lost to cancer, our organization continues to raise funds to support cancer research, treatments, and support woman affected by cancer. Bringing women together to support our "sisters" through various fundraising events designed to supporting each other while having fun with friends and family, fighting a serious fight with laughter in a supportive caring manner.
We wouldn't be here without the event founders, the first Mom Prom fundraising event began in Canton Michigan in 2006 with a group of friends that wanted to do more with their night out. Since then Mom Proms have been held throughout the United States. Each Mom Prom is locally organized and benefits whatever cause the local organizers choose to support. You can learn more about Mom Prom at www.momprom.org.
In 2014, our Charity of choice was the Rays of Hope Foundation, more than 100 women, dressed in bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the bride dresses, cocktail dresses, and even wedding gowns, descended upon the Springfield Marriott for an amazing night of dancing, raffles, cocktails, photo booth fun, and incredible memories.
In 2015, we raised over $5,000 and doubled in attendance from the previous year.
In 2016, we partnered with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, part of the American Cancer Society. Proceeds were donated to cancer survivors in the Pioneer Valley to the tune of $7,000.
In 2017, we raised over $8,000 and made a donation to the ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser and granted 33 Pink Passes.
2018 marked a new venue for our Masquerade themed Prom, as well as our first Purse Bingo!. You could feel the energy in the room at the Delaney House in Holyoke Ma, dancing, laughter, and a fabulous time was had by all. Survivor’s were treated to great gift bags, portraits, and a special raffle. Our makeup artist and hairdressers were busy for hours before the event helping out survivors/warriors and guest sparkle. At one point the entire dance floor was full and the group was singing in unison! Funds raised during 2018 allowed us to donate to the Cancer House of Hope in the amount of $10,000 and $10,000 to the American Cancer Society in 2019.
Our 2019 both the 80s Themed Prom and Purse Bingo were sold out! Word has gotten out how much fun our events are. This was one of our most creatively dressed proms, everyone had a blast not only dancing to the 80s but dressing in 80s attire....ohhhh and we can't forget the hair! We were able to increase our donations to the Cancer House of Hope the amount of $20,000 and American Cancer Society in the amount of $5,000 in 2020. Survivors and Warriors were celebrated and treated to a fun-filled night.
Annnnd then there was 2020....and we had to reschedule our Prom Event and Purse Bingo, again and again and again. We decided to have a Virtual Purse Bingo raffle in 2021 from the porch of one our Committee Member's home, not the same, but a big thank you to all that participated. April of 2022 rolled around and we were finally able to have our Grease Themed Prom event at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, MA. Our guest first sight was a 56 Chevy Belair to get them in the 50s vibe! Sandy, Danny, the Pink Ladies, Audrey Hepburn and sock hop attire, as well as, traditional gowns graced the dance flow. The 2021 and 2022 funds were combined and we were able to make a donation in the amount of $20,000 to Cancer House of Hope and $5,000 to the American Cancer Society in 2022. While our Survivor and Warrior guests we a little lighter than usual with Covid still lurking, those who were able to attend has an amazing time!
Things were back to normal in 2023, Our Purse Bingo and Roaring 20s Themed Prom went off spectacular with both events being sold out! We also added Yoga and sip to our FUNdraisers and grew our committee. The night started with the Hartford Jazz Orchestra with the dance floor roaring with lots of swing dancing. The fun continued at the photo booth, dancing to the DJ, raffles and laughter! Everyone was decked out, flappers, Hollywood Glam, and feathers from the boas sparkled at Tekoa in Westfield MA. We had over 40 survivors and warriors join us as our guests. Funds raised throughout the year were distributed in the amount of $30,000, $27,000 to Cancer House of Hope and $3,000 to American Cancer Society.
2024 was another EXCITING and SUCCESSFUL year for Mom Prom!
Our events continue to grow in popularity, prompting us to move to larger venues to accommodate the incredible support for these amazing FUNdraisers. Purse Bingo had its biggest turnout year, and our Kentucky Debry- themed prom was once again a sold-out event.
This year, we added a comedy show to the lineup- open to both men and women-which was a huge hit! The prom, held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, MA, was a festive evening filled with fabulous Derby attire, especially the fun and creative hats that added to the celebration. Guests enjoyed a night of dinner, dancing, raffles, a photo booth, and plenty of laughter.
Thanks to the generosity of our supports we were able to donate $25,000 to the Cancer House of Hope in West Springfield and $10,000 to Lorraine's Soup Kitchen in Chicopee. In addition, over 1,000 lbs of food were collected throughout the year at our events.
We're so grateful for everyone who participated and heled make 2024 another unforgettable year!
In 2025, we are proud to continue our support if the Cancer House of Hope, along with honoring nominated Cancer Warriors and Survivors. With a new committee in place and a slightly later start to planning this year, we will be focusing our efforts on one main event-the Prom.
Join us for a magical evening at our Masquerade Ball on October 25, 2025 at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, MA. We are also exploring a few smaller initiatives throughout the year to keep momentum going and continue making a difference in our community.
Stay tuned for updates- we can't wait to celebrate with you!
Our volunteers are just that, volunteers. They do not receive any payments for their time. We keep our overhead and event costs as low as possible while striving to ensure everyone has a fabulous time. You can be sure your donations are going to the charities designated and towards helping our warriors/survivors feel truly special at our annual Mom Prom event.
